12/05/11 SEVENTH STREET (BETWEEN BARAGA AND SPRING)
On Friday, December 2, Seventh Street will be closed to through traffic between Baraga Avenue and Spring Street from 9:00 am. to 11:00 am. in order to accommodate removal of a tree. Traffic will be detoured via Baraga Avenue, Sixth Street, and Spring Street In the event of inclement weather, the street closure date will be rescheduled to Monday, December 5 from 9:00 am. to 11:00 am.

11/24/11 ANNUAL TURKEY TROT RUN/WALK
On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, the Marquette Senior High School will hold its annual 5K and 10K Turkey Trot Run/Walk. This longstanding event will begin at the Marquette Senior High School and proceed west along Fair Avenue to the multi-use path where it will then cross Fair Avenue and proceed northerly along the path to Hawley Street, then east along the path to Lakeshore Boulevard, then northerly along the path on Lakeshore Boulevard to the coal dock. Runners/walkers will return back along the same route to finish at the Marquette Senior High School. The 5K walk/run event will follow part of the same route but turn around near Tourist Park. An alternate route may have to be followed in the event of inclement conditions. No city streets will be closed for this event, however the public is asked to use caution while driving in this area.

11/03/11 SPRING STREET CLOSURE (FRONT TO THIRD STREET) **Previously scheduled for Oct. 27
Due to delays, the Spring Street paving originally scheduled for Thursday, October 27 has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 3. On Thursday, November 3, Spring Street will be closed to thru traffic from Front Street to Third Street from 7:00 am. to 12:00 noon. This closure is for road paving associated with a waterline that was recently installed to the MarqTran building currently under construction at the northeast corner of Spring Street and Third Street. Spring Street will be open to local businesses. Vehicular access to the U.S. Post Office mailboxes on Spring Street will not be available. In the event of inclement weather, paving will be rescheduled to Friday, November 4.

10/21/11 LAKESHORE BOULEVARD (A.K.A. ISLAND BEACH ROAD) PETER WHITE DRIVE TO THE WEST END OF LAKESHORE BOULEVARD
Beginning at 7:00 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 construction will start on Phase II of the Lakeshore Boulevard sanitary sewer extension and water main replacement/extension project. This phase will start approximately 1000 feet to the west of the Lakeshore Boulevard and Peter White Drive intersection and end approximately 2000 west of this same intersection. It is anticipated that this phase of the project will be substantially complete by August 27, 2011. The overall project is anticipated to be completed by October 21, 2011. During construction on this phase, access will be provided to those homes located west of the construction limits by means of a temporary roadway. This temporary roadway will detour local residents off of Lakeshore Boulevard near the Phase line and utilize the LS&l service road before intersecting back into Lakeshore Boulevard west of the construction limits. The City asks that vehicular traffic be limited to the local residents and their guests. Residents traveling through this area are advised to use caution and be aware of all construction/detour signing and control devices. Residents and guests are urged when traveling on the detour route to stay within the limits of the access way and not to venture onto the private property of LS&l. Hebert Construction is the general contractor for this project. The City of Marquette asks you for your patience during this needed utility upgrade and road improvement project. 10/11/11 STREET DISRUPTIONS DUE TO STREET IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Continuing on Monday, October 10, 2011, various areas in the City of Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to street paving operations. The public is advised to be aware of all flagging and traffic control devices and to use caution when traveling through these areas. Dates and areas for street paving are as follows:

10/07/11 LINCOLN AND FAIR AVENUE INTERSECTION LANE CLOSURE
On Friday, October 7, the northbound lane of Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon for adjustment of a water valve box. Northbound traffic on Lincoln Avenue will be detoured to Kaye Avenue, Norway Avenue, Fair Avenue, and then back to Lincoln Avenue, Vehicles traveling on Fair Avenue and traveling southbound on Lincoln Avenue will not be affected by this lane closure, The traveling public is asked to be aware of this lane closure and be cautious and courteous around the workers as they perform their work.

10/06/11 LAKESHORE BOULEVARD (DETOUR AND ONE LANE, ONE WAY TRAFFIC)
Beginning Tuesday, September 6 and continuing through Thursday, October 6, 2011, Lakeshore Boulevard will be narrowed to one lane and detoured at the LS&l train trestle located south of Presque Isle Park. The detour is in effect while the trestle is being painted. The detour will be along a temporary gravel road constructed west of the existing road. Lakeshore Boulevard will be open to north and southbound traffic, however one-way traffic will be regulated on the detoured one lane road using traffic signals. The multi-use path will also be detoured west of the existing bike path. The public is asked to be aware of the detour, particularly of the one way traffic on the one lane road, and is asked to obey the traffic signals that control the one lane road. 10/04/11 MCCLELLAN AVENUE IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE INCLUDING EASTBOUND LANE OF WASHINGTON STREET
McClellan Avenue will be closed to traffic from US41 to Washington Street in order to accommodate paving and painting operations. The closure will include the southernmost eastbound lane of Washington Street at McClellan Avenue. The closure will occur at the following date and time with traffic detoured via U541 and Washington Street: Tuesday, October 4 from 4:00 am. to 7:00 am. A street overlay is a cost effective means of extending the service life of a roadway. Typically 1.5 to 2-inches of asphalt are applied to an existing road surface. This is done by first milling or grinding parts or the entire existing surface of asphalt. The reason for milling is to make room for the asphalt that is to be applied. Manhole and valve boxes are then adjusted to be at a minimal depth below the finished road surface to provide a level of ride quality. The asphalt is then applied by an asphalt paver that spreads a consistent layer of hot asphalt down on the surface. The asphalt is then rolled or compacted with the use of a steal drum rollers.

10/04/11 SPRING STREET CLOSURE FROM FRONT TO THIRD STREET (RESCHEDULED)
The Spring Street closure originally planned for Friday, September 30 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, October 4. On Tuesday, October 4, Spring Street will be closed to thru traffic from Front Street to Third Street from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm for installation of a new waterline to the MarqTran building that is currently under construction at the northeast corner of Spring Street and Third Street. Spring Street will be open to local businesses. Vehicular access to the U.S. Post Office mailboxes on Spring Street will not be available.

10/03/11 THIRD STREET PAVING AND PAINTING ARCH STREET TO FAIR AVENUE
Weather depending, the completion of paving and painting of Third Street is planned as follows:

Sunday/Monday, October 2 and 3 - Paint center line and parking spaces from Arch St. to Fair Ave.

4:00 am to 7:00 am
Monday. October 3 - Pave west parking lane from Arch Street to Fair Avenue.

7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Monday, October 3 - Pave intersections from Arch Street to Fair Street.

Beginning at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, temporary no parking signs will be posted along the west parking lane in order to clear vehicles from Third Street for the proposed work. The motoring public is asked to be aware of short-term traffic interruptions resulting from this work and to be cautious and courteous while the paving and painting crews perform their work. If inclement weather delays the planned work, additional public service announcements will be issued.

Due to weather delays, the Third Street traffic closure will be extended through Wednesday evening/Thursday morning. This closure is necessary to accommodate milling and paving overlay operations. Closures will occur at the following times, dates, and locations with traffic detoured to Fourth Street:

Closed 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
Tuesday/Wednesday, September 27 and 28 - Closed from Arch Street to Fair Avenue
Wednesday/Thursday, September 28 and 29- Closed from Arch Street to Fair Avenue

Closed 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Friday, September 29 - Third Street intersections from Arch Street to Fair Street will experience short-term closures to accommodate the paving of side street approaches.

09/24/11 LAKE STREET NON -MOTORIZED TRAIL EXTENSION PROJECT
Beginning at 7:00 am on Monday, July 25, 2011 construction will start on the Lake Street Non- Motorized Trail Extension Project from Hampton Street to the Carp River Bridge. It is anticipated that this project will be completed by September 24, 2011. Construction will be isolated to the shoulder and abandoned rail road grade east of Lake Street. Access along Lake Street for vehicular traffic will be maintained with minor disruptions. Parking will not be allowed on the east side of Lake Street in this area, The City asks that the public traveling through this area use caution and be aware of all construction signing and control devices. A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. is the general contractor for this project. The City of Marquette asks you for your patience during this non-motorized trail extension project.

09/17/11 “OUT OF DARKNESS” COMMUNITY WALK
On Saturday, September 17, 2011, beginning at 10:00 am and continuing through noon, there will be a community walk starting at the Commons at 112 S. Third Street and proceeding as follows:

Walk to begin at the Commons at 112 S. Third Street, then proceed south on the sidewalk on Third Street to Spring Street, then proceed east on the sidewalk on Spring Street to the bike path, then north on the bike path to Picnic Rocks, then reversing and returning to the Commons along the same route. The community walk will occur only on the sidewalks and bike path and no roads will be closed, however the public is asked to be aware of pedestrians crossing the streets.

09/16/11 “HOCKEY ON THIRD” PARADE
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16, the Marquette Downtown Development Authority will be sponsoring a “Hockey on Third” parade. The following streets will be closed to thru traffic while the parade is taking place. 09/03/11 MARQUETTE MARATHON & HALF MARATHON (Including Kids Race on Friday, September 2)
Ringside Fitness will be sponsoring the Marquette Marathon, Half Marathon, and a Kids Fun Run the weekend of September 2 and 3. The Marquette Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying event with proceeds from all the events benefiting the Marquette Senior High School Music Programs.

The events begin with a Kids Fun Run at 7:00 pm, Friday, September 2. The Fun Run will start at the Marquette Commons and proceed west on the multi-use path, crossing Fourth and Fifth Streets and continuing west to a turnaround point before McClellan Avenue, then returning along the same route.

The September 3 marathon and half marathon begin at Presque Isle Park with the marathon beginning at 7:30 am and the half marathon beginning at 8:00 am. Both races take the following route with the marathon making two loops: multi-use path from Presque Isle Park to Hawley Street, Hawley Street to the abandoned railroad grade, the abandoned railroad grade to Powder Mill Road, Powder Mill road to Hawley Street, then the multi-use path from Hawley to/through Tourist Park to Sugar Loaf Avenue, then the path from Sugar Loaf Avenue to the intersection of Washington Street & McClellan Avenue, then the path from McClellan Avenue to intersection of Spring Street & Lakeshore Boulevard, then the path from Spring Street to Hampton Avenue, turning around just before Hampton Avenue and returning to Presque Isle Park via the path.

This race crosses numerous streets including Wright Street, Fair Avenue. Ridge Street, Washington Street, Fifth, Fourth, and Third Streets, Front Street, and Lakeshore Boulevard. The only road that will be closed is the one way section of Peter White Drive around Presque Isle, which will be closed Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. All the other roads will be open with road crossings manned by volunteers and the Marquette Police from 7:00 am through 12:30 pm.

Race participants will be crossing at designated locations at varying times. The public is advised to use caution when traveling and asked to obey all road crossing attendants. At 12:30 pm, the road crossing affidavits will disperse and the road crossings will revert back to “rules of the road” however race participants will still be crossing streets and motorists are asked to be cautious and courteous.

09/03/11 SANITARY SEWER SLIP LINING PROJECT - CONTINUATION
Beginning the week of Monday August 29, 2011 various areas in the City of Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to sanitary sewer slip lining operations. Insituform Technologies will be incorporating trenchless technology by the use of a slip lining process to replace the sanitary sewer mains. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through these areas and be aware of all traffic control. Work will be continuing for this week at the following locations:
  • Marquette Drive — North of Lakeview Drive
  • McClellan Avenue — Ridge Street to Coles Drive
  • Coles Drive — Ridge Street to McClellan Avenue

Beginning at 8:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2011 crews will begin repainting street markings in the City of Marquette. The streets that will be affected include Hawley, Wright, Fair, College, Magnetic, Washington, Wilson, Grove, Pioneer, McClellan, Lincoln, Sugarloaf, Seventh, Division, Fourth, Third, Front, Lakeshore, and Presque Isle. Please use caution near the slow moving paint vehicles during this time, Work is expected to be completed by August 29, 2011.

08/27/11 SANITARY SEWER SLIP LINING PROJECT
Beginning the week of Monday August 22, 2011 various areas in the City of Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to sanitary sewer slip lining operations. Insituform Technologies will be incorporating trenchless technology by the use of a slip lining process to replace the sanitary sewer mains. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through these areas and be aware of all traffic control. Work will be continuing for this week at the following locations:
  • Marquette Drive and Lakeview Drive
  • West Fair Avenue — Woodland Avenue to Gray Avenue
  • Wright Street — Lincoln Avenue to Sugarloaf Avenue

08/27/11 “WALT KYLE MILE” RIVER VALLEY BANK CANCER WALK
On Saturday, August 27, 2011, beginning at 9:00 am, and continuing through 12:00 noon, there will be a community walk starting at the Washington Street River Valley Bank and proceeding as follows: Walk to begin at at the Berry Events Center, then proceed west through the parking lot to Third Street, then south on the Third Street sidewalk to Spring Street, then east on the Spring Street multi-use path to the Lakeshore Boulevard multi-use path, then north on the multi-use path to Fair Avenue, then west on the Fair Avenue sidewalk returning to the Berry Events Center. The community walk will occur only on the sidewalks and multi-use path and no roads will be closed, however the public is asked to be aware of pedestrians crossing the streets.

08/25/11 "ISLAND CRUISE" LONGBOARDING AT PRESQUE ISLE PARK
There will be an “Island Cruise” Longboarding event at Presque Isle Park on Thursday, August 25, 2011, beginning at 10:00 am. and continuing through 11:00 p.m. During the event Peter White Drive will be closed to vehicles along that portion that is one way. Pedestrians and bicyclists will have limited access to the entire island but are asked to follow the instructions of the race coordinators and volunteers, Public parking will be available, however a race is scheduled from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at which time vehicles attempting to exit the parking lots by the breakwall, bandshell, and pavilion will have limited ability to exit. The motoring public is asked to consult the race coordinators and volunteers who will be on-site and to follow their instructions.

08/25/11 SANITARY SEWER CLEANING WASHINGTON, FRONT, THIRD, AND FOURTH STREETS
From Monday evening, August 22nd through Friday morning, August 26th, between the hours of 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, parking on the following streets will be temporarily prohibited with traffic directed to the parking lanes. Parking will be prohibited approximately four hours in advance of the work.

August 22nd — 23rd Washington Street from Third Street to Lakeshore Boulevard Front Street from Washington Street to Michigan Street
August 24th — 25th Third Street from the Jackson Cut Alley to Arch Street Fourth Street from Washington Street to Arch Street These dates may vary slightly depending on progress. On Saturday, August 13, 2011, beginning at 7:00 am and continuing through 6:00 pm, Pine Street from Fair Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard, and Powder Mill Road from County Road 550 to the north end will be closed and Wright Street from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic for the “Ore to Shore” Mountain Bike Race. On Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 11:00 am through 12:00 pm, the Ahmed Shriners will hold their annual Summer Ceremonial Parade. The parade will start at Graveraet Middle School on Hewitt Avenue, proceed west on Hewitt Avenue to Third Street, then south on Third Street to Washington Street, then east on Washington Street to the Masonic Square at 128 W. On Monday, July 4, 2011 the Marquette Area Fourth of July Committee will host the annual 1 mile and 2.5 mile Sunrise Dog Dash from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. The routes will be as follows: 1 mile course - Starting at Picnic Rocks Park, then proceeding north on bike path to Pine Street, then west on Pine Street using the shoulder that opposes traffic to the bike path along Pine Street, then south on the bike path along Pine Street to the sidewalk on Fair Avenue, then east on the sidewalk to the finish at Picnic Rocks Park. 2.5 mile course - Starting at Picnic Rocks Park, then proceeding north on the bike path to the bike path on Hawley Street, then west on the bike path to the abandoned railroad grade, then south on the abandoned grade to Wright Street, then east on Wright Street using the shoulder that opposes traffic to the bike path, then south on the bike path to the finish at Picnic Rocks Park, No streets will be closed for this event and the public is asked to exercise caution in these areas. 04/23/11 YMCA RUN/WALK
The YMCA of Marquette County will be sponsoring its 11th annual YMCA Run/Walk on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. Events will include a 10 mile and I0k run, a 5k run/walk, a 1 mile youth run, and a toddler trot. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., Pine Street will be closed from Fair Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard. Pine Street is expected to re-open by 12:00 p.m. All events will start at the YMCA, turn north on Pine Street and continue north along the multi-use path. The 5k will turn around just north of the Dead River bridge and return to the YMCA. The 10k and 10 mile runs will continue to and around Presque Isle Park. The 10k will return to the YMCA; the 10 mile run will turn west on Hawley Street, north on the two track trail, cross Schneider Mill Court and Powder Mill Road, and proceed westerly on the Noquemanon Trail before returning back along the same trail and road crossings to the multi-use path, Pine Street, and the YMCA. No other streets except Pine Street will be closed and the public is asked to use caution while driving in this area.

01/29/11 NOQUEMANON SKI MARATHON
The following streets will be closed from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 for the 2011 Noquemanon Ski Race.
  1. Hawley Street, from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard.
  2. Wright Street, from Presque Isle Avenue to Lakeshore Boulevard.
  3. Schneider Mill Court, from River Park Circle to end of Schneider Mill Court.
  4. Powder Mill Road, from Wright Street to end of Powder Mill Road.

The detour route to access Lakeshore Boulevard from Hawley Street and Wright Street will be Presque Isle Avenue south to Fair Avenue, then Fair Avenue east to Lakeshore Boulevard. Access to the Biolife Plasma Services will be available from Hawley Street, west from Lakeshore Boulevard.

  11/10/10 Wright Street Lane Shifts
From 8:00 am Tuesday, November 9 through 8:00 am Wednesday, November 10 there will be lane closures on Wright Street for street warranty repairs between Industrial Parkway and Ontario Avenue. During the repairs, eastbound and westbound lanes will be temporarily closed, resulting in separated shifts to the center lane.   09/30/10 Street Improvement and Maintenance

Due to the wet weather the street paving has been rescheduled to begin Saturday, September 25, 2010. Various areas in the City of Marquette will experience traffic disruptions due to street overlay activities. The contractor is in the process of repairing the potholes that have been created due to the weather delays. The public is advised to be aware of all flagging and traffic control devices and to use caution when traveling through the following areas:

1. Pioneer Road - Altamont Street to McClellan Avenue (Sept. 25th)
2. Ridge Street - McClellan Avenue to Meeske Avenue (Sept. 27th)
3. Elder Drive - North and South of Center Street (Sept. 27th and 28th)
4. Hampton Street - Adams Street to Albion Street (Sept. 28th)
5. Fair Avenue - Lincoln Avenue to McClellan Avenue (Sept. 29th and Sept. 30th)
6. Lakeshore Boulevard - Baraga Avenue to U.S. 41 (Sept. 29th)

On Saturday, September 18, 2010, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing through noon, there will be a community walk starting at the Commons at 112 S. Third Street and proceeding as follows: Walk to begin at the Commons at 112 S. Third Street, then proceed south on the sidewalk on Third Street to Spring Street, then proceed east on the sidewalk on Spring Street to the bike path, then north on the bike path to Picnic Rocks, then reversing and returning to the Commons along the same route.   09/04/10 4:00 pm Marquette Marathon and Half Marathon
On Saturday, September 4, Ringside Fitness will be sponsoring the Marquette Marathon and Half Marathon. The Marquette Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying event with all proceeds benefiting the Marquette Senior High School Athletic Booster Club. Both races begin at Presque lsle Park with the half marathon beginning at 7:15 am and the marathon beginning at 7:30 a.m. The course takes the following route: multi-use path from Presque lsle Park to Hawley Street, Hawley Street to the abandoned railroad grade, the abandoned railroad grade to Powder Mill Road, Powder Mill road to Hawley Street, then the multi-use path from Hawley through Tourist Park to Sugar Loaf Avenue, then the path from Sugar Loaf Avenue to the intersection of Washington Street & McClellan Avenue, then the path from McClellan Avenue to intersection of Spring Street & Lakeshore Boulevard, then the path from Spring Street to Hampton Avenue, turning around just before Hampton Avenue and returning to Presque lsle Park via the path. This race crosses numerous streets including Wright Street, Fair Avenue, Ridge Street, Washington Street, Fifth, Fourth, and Third Streets, Front Street, and Lakeshore Boulevard. The only road that will be closed is Peter White Drive around Presque lsle Park, which will be closed for the Friday night kids race from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm and for the Saturday marathon from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. All the other roads will be open with road crossings manned by the Marquette Police and volunteers from 7:00 am through 12:00 pm. Race participants will be crossing at designated locations at varying times. The public is advised to use caution when traveling in Marquette this day and asked to obey all road crossing attendants. At 12:00 pm, the road crossing attendants will disperse and the road crossings will revert back to "rules of the road" however race participants will still be crossing streets and motorists are asked to be cautious and courteous.

Seventh Street Traffic Control Changes: Spring Street to Fisher Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on August 13th, 2010 the intersections of Spring Street and Fisher Street with Seventh Street will have a few changes to the current traffic control. Seventh Street will be open to through traffic up through Washington Street beginning at 8:30 a.m. on August 13. Due to this change in traffic flow the intersection at Spring Street will require traffic to stop on Spring Street while traffic goes through on Seventh Street. The intersection at Fisher Street will require traffic to stop on Fisher Street while traffic goes through on Seventh Street. A left hand turn lane has also been constructed between Rock and Fisher on Seventh Street to alleviate traffic congestion. The public is advised to use caution when driving through this area and be aware of the change in the traffic control conditions.

Wednesday Payne and Dolan has tentatively scheduled during the afternoon to place the final asphalt overlay on this section of road. Some minor work is required on a section of bike path during the street overlay Wednesday that will result in the path being closed. Thursday and Friday the Public Works Department will finish any ditching required and will shape the gravel shoulders to match the new road surface. The compost site at the former Cliff DOW area will be closed Wednesday to allow for the paving activities. This work is required as part of the Seventh Street Extension Project. Work will consist of widening the street a few feet along with curb removal, minor asphalt removal, subsequent replacement, and the placement of the required traffic markings and signage. Hebert Construction is the general contractor for this project. The anticipated completion date for this project is July 31, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The detour routes will utilize Fisher Street, Sixth Street and Baraga Avenue.   07/16/10 Multi-Use Path: Lakeshore Boulevard at Baraga Avenue
On Thursday, July 15 and Friday, July 16 approximately 125 feet of the multi-use path on Lakeshore Boulevard will be partially or fully closed for installation of a sanitary sewer line. The closure will be just south of Baraga Avenue. The contractor installing the sewer line will attempt to maintain pedestrian and bicycle access on the multi-use path. However, in the event the path is closed, pedestrians and bicyclists in this area are asked to use Lakeshore Boulevard as the detour and are reminded to follow the rules of the road: pedestrians are to walk "against" traffic and bicyclists are to ride "with" traffic. Motorists are asked to reduce speed in this area, use extreme caution and be aware of others in the street.

  As Traffic Diminishes 07/04/10 Fourth of July Fireworks
Beginning at Dusk on July 4, 2010, North bound traffic on Lakeshore Blvd. Founder's Landing (between S. Front and E. Baraga) will be closed. South bound traffic will have access to allow the flow of traffic leaving the fireworks area. Traffic will be detoured using U.S. 41 and Fisher Street detour. The street will be opened approximately one hour after completion of fireworks.

  As Parade Completes 07/03/10 Independence Day Parade - Downtown Marquette
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. July 3. 201 0. Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to Third Street and Third Street from Washington Street to Baraga Avenue will be closed to thru traffic to hold the annual Fourth of July Parade. Third and Washington Streets are scheduled to re-open as soon as the parade is completed. McClellan Avenue from Baraga Avenue to Ridge Street and areas on Baraga Avenue east and west of McClellan Avenue will be closed for the parade staging areas starting at 10:OO a.m. These areas will open up to traffic as soon as the parade is completed. North Front Street will remain open as an emergency vehicle route.
       
*Please note that the Marquette Area Fourth of July Committee will also host the Sunrise Dog Dash event from 7:00am to 9:00am the morning of July 3. No streets will be closed for this event, but the public is asked to exercise caution in these areas. [Read PSA]

  07/02/10 Intersection of Seventh and Spring Street  
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on July 2, 2010 water main work will start at the intersection of Seventh Street and Spring Street. Work in the intersection will consist of main tapping and extension out of the intersection. Water will be shut down for several blocks to allow for this work to be completed. Notices have been sent out to the affected residents. Hebert Construction is the general contractor for this project. The anticipated completion date for this project is July 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. The detour routes will utilize Fifth Street and Baraga Avenue. The City of Marquette asks for your patience during this needed utility work

  06/29/10 7:00 pm Meeske to McClellan  
Beginning at 7:00 am Tuesday, June 29, 2010 the 1500 Block of West Ridge Street (between Meeske & McClellan) will be closed to through traffic due to sewer line repairs. This block should be open by 7:00 pm Tuesday night. *This is a change from the previous date of 06/24/10.

Superior Bike Fest - Road Closure Schedule for 06/25/10-06/27/10
  06/27/10 1:30pm Superior Bike Fest - Peter White Drive
Beginning Sunday, Peter White Drive around Presque Isle will be closed to vehicular traffic through 1:30 p.m. to allow for the circuit races.

  06/26/10 Evening Superior Bike Fest - Pioneer Road at McClellan Avenue
Beginning Saturday at 7:00 a.m., a traffic shift will occur on McClellan Avenue with all northbound traffic shifted to the center turn lane in order to accommodate the 35, 55, and 100 mile races. Southbound traffic on McClellan Avenue will not be affected. Pioneer Road will be closed at McClellan Avenue and closed to thru traffic at Division Street.
  06/25/10 Closed 2:00-11:00pm Superior Bike Fest - central downtown business district
Beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m. the central part of the downtown business district will be closed for the twilight Criterium bike races. This area is bounded by Bluff Street, Lakeshore Boulevard, Baraga Avenue, and Fifth Street. This area will be reopened at approximately 11:00 p.m. Friday night.

Beginning Monday, June 7, 2010, for approximately three weeks, east bound Mildred Street, from Gray to Kimber Street, will be closed. Expect traffic delays.
