Arena Ice Rink

Recently remodeled for multiple uses, the Lakeview Arena houses the Parks and Recreation department offices and a variety of recreational activities including public skating, junior and adult hockey programs, figure skating, rental skates, and ice rental for community groups and organizations.  Besides a two-ice sheet arena, Lakeview is also rented out for various public and private events and shows. Lakeview is available May through August as a large reception/banquet hall with seating for up to 600 guests. Lakeview Arena also provides wireless internet.


The Lakeview Arena offers open skate during the months of October thru March. Hours and prices vary by day, age and event. All public programs begin Monday, October 1, 2012 for the season.

Plans for a brand new skate park are in the works by the Marquette Area Skate Park Committee. They will be building a brand new skateboard plaza here in Marquette. A fundraising effort is in effect to raise $250,000 for the new park.

The City of Marquette, a tax exempt organization, is the fiscal agent for the Marquette Area Skate Plaza Committee. All donations are tax deductible.

Infractions of the rules below may result in loss of your skate park registration card and all skating privileges.

Skate Park Rules

  1. A helmet, elbow and knee pads must be worn at all times.
  2. One person on the ramp at a time.
  3. Provide your own skateboard or roller blades.
  4. Extreme recklessness will not be tolerated.
  5. No destroying or defacing city property.
  6. Clean up after yourself.
  7. You must have a registration card to use the ramp.
  8. Skate only when the park is open.
  9. No destroying or defacing city property.

Hours of operation will be posted and may vary depending on weather and daylight.


Lakeview Arena Evaluation Study 2007

As part of a continued effort to improve the economic success of the facility, improve the facility and services for the user groups, and to assist in preserving the rich hockey tradition in the City of Marquette, the City directed the Stevens Engineers team to perform an evaluation of the operations and physical condition of the existing Lakeview Arena facility. The study included analyzing the operations of the facility along with the condition of the roof structure and the facility's mechanical systems. It is recommended that the findings presented in this report be used to improve the operations and maintenance of the facility and to assist in planning and budgeting of the recommended improvements.
