Residential Service - Recycle

Recyclables Collection

Schedules
Waste Management Inc collects recyclables from all residential properties within the City once per week. The collection is on the same evening as scheduled garbage collection for each address. Bins containing recyclables are to be placed curbside after 4:00 pm on the evening preceding the scheduled collection day. Bins are to be removed from the street right-of-way and placed in an inconspicuous location on the owner's property prior to 8:00 pm on the collection day. A map of the daily collection routes is available or residents may call the City Public Works Department at 228-0444 or Waste Management Inc at 228-2028 for collection details or to report service problems.

Acceptable Materials
The following materials are collected for recycling: newsprint and inserts, magazines and catalogs, corrugated cardboard, paper bags, boxboard, phone books, computer paper, mixed office paper and junk mail, aluminum, tin, and steel cans, clear, green and brown glass containers, and plastic containers bearing the international recycling symbol and code numbers 1 - 7. All materials must be clean of food residue and other putrescible material.

Preparation for Collection

Materials are to be placed curbside in hard-walled plastic bins, baskets, or boxes, or in separate bags for each type of material (Single sort can mix together).  Recyclables of a single type may be set out co-mingled in a single container, but separate containers or segregation are required to separate fiber type recyclables from glass, plastic and metal recyclables. Containers used for recyclable collection must be easily differentiated from those used for refuse collection. Only string may be used to bundle recyclables, no rubber bands or wire.
