Specialized
Training and Services
In an ever changing environment
of emergency responses, Marquette City Fire Department remains proactive and
current by providing firefighters with training and education on the latest
techniques and concerns in the fire/rescue industry. Marquette fire fighting personnel respond to
many different types of emergencies. Because of this, firefighters are trained
in many different fields of rescue: High Angle Rescue (cliff rescue), Water/Ice
Rescue, Auto Extrication, Hazardous Materials (Operations Level), Confined
Space Rescue, Emergency Medical Services (EMT-Basic Level), Environmental
Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness. The list of responsibilities is
expanding continuously. Updating and maintaining medical licenses, honing and
sharpening skills, learning new procedures, and following government standards
necessitates constant schooling and training of personnel. Marquette Fire has
"mutual aid" agreements with the surrounding townships and
participates in interdepartmental training exercises to increase efficiency in
the event that an incident requires additional resources. Preparation through
education and training makes the Marquette City Fire Department ready for the
changing challenges of the new millennium.
