TAXICAB LICENSING PROCESS

 

FORMS CAN BE OBTAINED AT THE MARQUETTE CITY CLERK’S OFFICE, 300 W. BARAGA AVE., MARQUETTE, MI.

 

The following forms must be completed:

 

•                     Taxicab Company License Application

•                     Taxicab Driver Permit application (1 for each driver)

•                     Taxicab Vehicle Registration application (1 for each vehicle)

 

The following must also be submitted:

•                     Copies of Vehicle insurance certificates (refer to ordinance for required insurance amounts)

•                     2 photos of each driver-1” x 1”

•                     Copy of rate schedule conforming to limits allowable in the City

•                     Hours of operation

•                     Also be sure that company name is on taxi doors & lights on roof

 

Before a license is issued the following must be done:

•                     License fees paid to City Clerk - $125.00 for company license,

•                     $25.00 ($20/renewal) for each driver, and

•                     $30.00 for each vehicle.

•                     Vehicles inspected & signed approvals given by the Police Dept.

 

After the license is issued:

·                      Be sure that signs remain intact on the vehicles

·                      Be sure that taxicab registrations & driver permits are displayed in  vehicles

 

PLEASE NOTE: ALL LICENSES EXPIRE ON APRIL 30TH OF EACH YEAR-IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT A COMPLETE RENEWAL PACKAGE PRIOR TO THAT DATE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE IN THE CITY OF MARQUETTE. CABS WILL BE STOPPED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT!
