The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was established by the City Commission with informal powers, duties and procedures. The Board advises the Commission on the operation of the parks system, Lakeview Arena, and recreation programs, and sets some policy and programs for the Parks and Recreation department. The Board seeks to maximize revenues and use of the arena as a skating complex, and the marinas, within a balanced budget exclusive of capital maintenance and improvement expenses.

The board meets at 8:00 am, the first Wednesday of each month in room 103 of City Hall, 300 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette, and has nine members at city commission discretion, serving three year terms.
