The Board of Canvassers was established by the city charter, section 3.11 in accordance with the provisions found in the Michigan Election Law, Section 168.30. The board certifies the results of city elections. The State Election Law sets the powers, duties and procedures of the board. The board meets at 3:00 pm on the day following the city election and has four members serving four year terms.

2010 Meeting Schedule
The Marquette City Canvass Board will hold regular meetings during the current year on the following dates. The meetings will be held in City Hall, Commission Chambers at 3:00 pm.
Changes in this schedule will be posted at the city clerk's office
in compliance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act, Act 267 of 1976.
May 5*, August 4, and November 3
*To canvass the results of the Election slated for May 4, 2010.
This meeting is in addition to the meetings previously posted for 2010.
