Arts and Culture

The Marquette Arts and Culture Department serves to encourage, develop and facilitate an enriched environment of artistic, creative and cultural activity in Marquette and acts as an umbrella organization for local arts and culture groups. The Arts Center, in addition to providing gallery and studio space, averages 263 visitors a day and provides services to more than 300 local artists.

The department was organized in 1992 and relocated to the newly renovated lower level of the Peter White Public Library in 2000. In addition to being a regional provider of arts and cultural activities, the department provides the following services and programs: workshops, art exhibits, a retail gallery outlet, performance events, film series, studio space, meeting space for arts organizations, an arts calendar and coordination of national and local heritage festivals.
